Nico was found quietly waiting for help in the back alley of a Los Angeles home - and it was immediately clear that this gentle boy was never meant to live outdoors. From the moment he stepped inside, he embraced indoor life as though he’d been waiting for it all along. The rest is history. Nico has since received a full veterinary evaluation (including a professional dental cleaning) and is healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. He is FIV positive and currently lives peacefully with an FIV-negative cat - proof that, with proper introductions, FIV cats can coexist safely and harmoniously. Nico was recently diagnosed with a heart condition involving abnormal function of two heart valves. At this stage, the condition is being medically managed, and Nico feels well and enjoys a normal, active daily life. Because the diagnosis is recent, the long-term progression is not yet known, and his future caregiver will need to continue routine cardiac monitoring and follow veterinary guidance. Nico takes daily medication to support his heart function and has been very easy to medicate. What’s important to know is that Nico does not act like a “sick cat.” He is affectionate, playful, social, and deeply connected to his people. He doesn’t have a single aggressive bone in his body. He’s the ultimate “Velcro cat” - the kind who follows his person from room to room, always wanting to be nearby. Whether you’re working, watching TV, or moving through the house, expect a soft gray shadow at your side. Nico is food-motivated (but not picky), which makes routines and medication simple. He loves to play, climb, and perch, and high spaces bring him real joy - a cat tree or elevated shelves would make him very happy. He has impeccable manners, has never scratched furniture, and prefers toys to anything else. What Nico wants most is connection - to be close, to be loved, and to be part of a calm, attentive household that values companionship and consistency. In return, he offers unwavering affection, gentleness, and a quiet devotion that’s impossible not to fall for. If you’re looking for a loving companion and are comfortable providing ongoing veterinary care and monitoring, Nico may be a truly special match.
