Sasha

Special Needs urinary diet, litterbox issues

Not your typical rescue! These cats have a safe home, but life could be better. Read on…A pair of senior sisters, Sasha and Pearl  have been together all their lives. Rescued in Burbank in 2009, I adopted them at the age of four months. “Fractious” at first, then shy, they slowly warmed up to their new environment and home over the next few months. I still remember the first time I heard a real purr instead of a hissy fit!

In a quiet, calm home, they will show you their sweet side, with blissful purrs, slow blinks, and leisurely biscuits. Pearl is still a shy girl, but loves to show you her luxurious belly. Sasha starts off spicy, but as soon as you make friends, she wants nothing more than to climb your lap and shoulders, the better to snuggle you!

As elder cats and former ferals, they have some specific needs from their environment: they prefer few visitors, quiet spaces, and they do not get along with kids or other animals. They have one very challenging habit from their feral days, which is that they make urine mistakes on rugs and soft furniture even with a clean fresh litterbox waiting for them. In their current home, I have some good workarounds, and can share those strategies with you.

Why a new home? I have accepted work that will see me traveling heavily and living mostly outside the US. They can safely stay here, but rather than leave them lonely with visits from a cat sitter, I have to wonder if a better home is out there, where they have more interaction and someone to make biscuits on all day long. They’re healthy for their age, and likely have many more years of love to give to a patient person or family who can make their home everything they want it to be. They are very sweet souls, and I want them to spend their senior years cuddled and cozy, not bored.
