01 Jun Thanks to All for an Amazing Open House Celebration!
Last Sunday, Kitten Rescue held our 20th anniversary Open House at the KR Sanctuary in Atwater Village. It was an amazing event! Despite the heat, we had over 200 guests in attendance to celebrate a great day honoring Kitten Rescue’s history and advocating for homeless animals. We even had four kittens adopted into their forever homes!
The Open House included guided tours of the nursery, where guests got to meet and play with the Powerpuff Girls. Some of the sleepier kitties slept through the whole party, while lucky attendees who went on nursery tours at just the right times saw our newborn kittens bottle-feed and play with each other. Our Sanctuary cats had a blast receiving endless love and attention from the guests who walked through the cat hotel and social room, petting and playing with all the KR Sanctuary residents.
Our raffle tables this year included a great selection of items, graciously donated by Kitten Rescue supporters from all over. Prizes included original artwork, event passes, jewelry, cat-themed décor, kitchen appliances, and more. The event also featured delicious plant-based, Polynesian-inspired cuisine by chef Gwendolynn Mathers and her Tiny Tiki pop-up — we couldn’t get enough of the Tofu poke and MaiTai cheesecake! We would also like to thank Follow Your Heart, Daiya, and Trader Joe’s for donating food, drinks, and ingredients, and their commitment to helping organizations like ours.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a huge success, and to the dedicated volunteers who made it all possible – we look forward to seeing you all at the Fur Ball gala in September!
Thank you to Lisa Ruschioni for photographing the event!
