Marshmallow is FIV positive. Marshmallow is a bouncy little ray of sunshine. He quite literally has a bounce in his step when he walks! This sweet boy was rescued when he showed up at a feral cat feeding station in a KR volunteer's yard; he had a very bad upper respiratory infection; so bad the person could hear him breathing all the way across the driveway. She approached him and discovered he wasn't feral and was able to coax him into the house. He was an incredibly good sport during his road to recovery and he is ready for his forever home. He has turned out to be a wonderful foster uncle himself making fast friends with a small kitten that has recently come into foster care. It would be great if he and his little buddy Tabby could be adopted together! They love to play and keep each other very entertained. Here is a YouTube video of the two of them being adorable together. Even if it's not in the cards for Marshmallow to be adopted with Tabby he really enjoys the company of other cats so he needs to be adopted into a home with at least one other kitty or friendly doggy. Marshie is a naturally happy and sweet little cat and shares that happiness with everyone he meets. It's really hard to encounter Marshmallow and not walk away with a big smile on your face. While Marshmallow absolutely *loves* to be pet and loved on and will often be a lap cat he gets a bit squirmy when being picked up; he seems to have a bit of a fear of heights or being carried more than a short distance so that's a skill to be learned with him. His foster mom can do it pretty easily now but it's an important thing to know about him.He has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans.
