Meet Jalapeño (Holly) – From Spicy Beginnings to Sweet Success When Jalapeño (affectionately nicknamed Holly) arrived at the LA City Shelter, she was in rough shape—skinny, sick, and tangled in what looked like a makeshift bandage around her leg. But even then, her beauty stood out, and it’s what saved her life. A kind foster mom stepped up to give her a second chance—unaware she’d just welcomed a scared, hissing, feral kitten into her home. Underneath all that fluff and fury was a little girl who just needed patience and a safe place to land. Armed with tips from Jackson Galaxy and a whole lot of heart, her foster mom gave Holly space and time—and within 24 hours, Holly's walls started to come down. Today, Holly is a completely different cat. She curls up in her foster mom’s lap while she works, purrs during snuggles, and brings a sweet, playful energy to the room. She’s curious, beautiful, and learning to trust more every day. But let’s be honest: Holly is not a plug-and-play kitten. She’s looking for a special adopter—someone experienced with shy or semi-feral cats, who understands that progress doesn’t happen overnight and who is ready to continue the loving, patient work that’s brought her this far. If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in earning a cat’s trust—and being chosen in return—Holly will reward you with a deep and lasting bond. Please only apply if you have experience working with cats like her. She’s not for first-time adopters, but she is for someone who believes every cat deserves a chance to bloom.
