Lexie

Hey, if your hands are free, how about petting Lexie on the head? Or rubbing her chin? Could you skritch her belly a little? Now back to the head! Yes, good! Now rub down her back! Back to the head! Chin! Ears! Belly! Okay now pick up that string toy and twirl it around and let her chase it around the room! IS THAT A LASER TOY?

As you may have guessed, Lexie is a very playful and attention-loving kitty. So much so, that she might INSIST that you keep petting her—with a friendly swipe or nip…

But don’t worry, you’re safe! She was (unfortunately) previously de-clawed, and recently had a bunch of teeth removed, so she can’t do any damage — and besides, she only does it in a loving way. (Honestly, it’s pretty hilarious!) And once playtime is FINALLY over, she’s happy to curl up in a bed or a box, or if you’re very special, on your lap.

Even though she can be pretty rambunctious when she plays, Lexie doesn’t like a bunch of outside fuss and commotion. And because of her previous life, it takes her some time to trust new people. It took us a while to get her out of her hiding place, but now that she knows she’s safe she wants to play and love all the time. So she needs someone who’s willing to put in the work with her — but it’s worth it! She’s the best.

She doesn’t really engage with the other resident animals (cats and small dog) so we think she will do best in a quieter home where she can get all the love and affection. Though she could probably find a peaceful if not loving co-existence with a mellow cat or dog.

One last thing to know… Lexie makes cute little snuffling and grunting noises due to nasopharyngeal stenosis, which is just a fancy way to say her nasal passages are a bit narrow. And if you’re in the other room having fun without her, the meows she uses to get your attention can be pretty endearing.
