Charlie and Ziggy

Charlie and Ziggy are adoptive brothers who have shared their home together since they were one month old. They each have their own distinct character.

Charlie is the tuxedo and he is all cat: alert, aware, curious, affectionate and powered by a battery that is always charged and ready for action. Whatever the toy, he’s ready to chase, kick, leap or pounce.

Ziggy, is the orange kitty. He is as sweet and gentle as can be and he lives up to the ginger’s reputation for cute and clear vocalizing when it’s time to eat or just comment about life. During his spurts of playfulness, he favors felt balls and the occasional spiral but he is more often a still observer of the goings-on around him.

The boys do things together like watching butterflies and birds from the catio or through the window, they share toys and eat from each other’s plates, they engage in typical kitten tumbling and roughhousing and they even groom each other now and then. Each makes sure his brother is always near and safe.

Back to the catio for a second, it is a must! They love safely enjoying the fresh air, the breezes, the scents, the hums of insects and the movements of nearby birds and squirrels.

Either because he arrived a week earlier or by force of character, Charlie is generally the dominant of the two. He becomes jealous when he feels Ziggy is getting too much affection or attention. It takes some conscious, sensitive balancing to make sure that Charlie does not feel jealous and that Ziggy does not feel like a second fiddle and withdraw.

When they first see you in the morning, they will come to you for loving hugs and kisses and melt at being spoken to sweetly and told the truth of how beautiful and wonderful they are. Charlie loves falling asleep in his mommy’s arms and Ziggy will also climb on top of you sometimes and let you know that he wants to be held.
