Special Needs: Chronic Sleep disorder, Chronic constipation (High Fiber Diet)

I rescued Tristan (Meg Ryan) from the bushes in front of my house when she was a kitten in September 2019. She is a sweet green eyed girl who loves to sleep in your lap or sit beside you on the couch. She likes belly rubs and to stretch while you scratch her back. She is playful and likes any toy you offer her, though her favorite might be the rainbow shaped Cat-Nip or the butterfly wand. She is curious and likes to know what you’re up to, and will be at the door waiting for you when you wake up.

Since she was about 1 year old Tristan has suffered from a chronic sleep disorder for which there is no cure (I’ve been working with a neurologist at MASH and have tried all suggestions to no avail). This means that sometimes when she sleeps, she acts out her dreams and she will fall from the couch, startle herself awake or growl while asleep. It can be alarming, but when she wakes up it is as if nothing happened. She sometimes urinates during these episodes, which means I put waterproof pet blankets on the couch and other favorite sleep spots. Luckily she isn’t conscious of her suffering, and will have a normal life expectancy. I adopted two cats before I fostered Tristan, and she gets along with them both, though it took a month or two to become fully adjusted. She eats Royal Canin High Fiber Dry food because she has chronic constipation, I also give her feline probiotics to help with that.

Tristan is a tenderhearted kitty who needs the right family, maybe with other special needs cats, as she has a lot of love to give.
