Siggy and Ivar
Siggy and Ivar are a very bonded sibling pair who are each missing one of their rear feet. We’re not entirely sure how this happened, but given that they were just a few days old when rescued, the most likely scenario is that their umbilical cords got tightly wrapped around one of their ankles during birth and with the help of some wayward cat hair constricted the blood flow to their feet until they became necrotic and fell off. So it wasn’t a great start, and that all happened before they were unceremoniously dumped at a high-kill shelter. Luckily, Kitten Rescue whisked them to safety, bottle raised them, got their stumps cleaned up and now they are healthy, fabulous, loving creatures who are looking for their forever home.
The absence of a back foot does not hinder them in any way. They chase each other around just like any other cat would, and are able to climb and jump normally. Admittedly, it does look a little pathetic when they instinctively try to scratch themselves with their stumps. But beyond needing occasional help in scratching their itches, being short a foot does not hinder them at all.
The siblings have very distinct personalities that complement each other wonderfully. Siggy, the girl, is the more overtly social of the two, and loves to sit on laps, cuddle in bed and, suckle on your hands. She is really serious about hand suckling, so be prepared. She is also the more talkative sibling, and will follow you around chirping and trilling. Sometimes she may even try to jump up on you for a shoulder ride. She really gets along well with dogs and is often found in the company of one of her foster parent’s three big canines. Ivar, the boy, takes a little longer to warm up to you, but once he does he will follow you everywhere for pets and head rubs. He has absolutely dreamy eyes, more charisma than you can shake a stick at, and a very even-tempered personality.
Despite their rough start in life, Siggy and Ivar are an amazing pair. If you are interested in this gorgeous and loving pair, please contact their foster parent.
