Special Needs – Mild Cerebellar Hypoplasia
Morty is one of the most charming cats you will meet. His favorite things include fuzzy blankets, humans, food, and cat toys. He’s a sweet boy who loves meeting new people and is friendly with new cats and kittens. Morty enjoys cat toys that he can chase and grab, especially if he is joined by other cats in the pursuit. If Morty is tired and you’re lounging with a soft blanket, he will make his way to you with loud purrs and snuggle up against you. He loves getting his belly rubbed as he falls asleep.
Morty was born with mild cerebellar hypoplasia, meaning the part of his brain that controls motor skills and coordination is underdeveloped. Since he is mild, the only symptom is his endearing wobbly walk. CH cats live just as long as any other cat, and also live just as well! Morty’s CH doesn’t affect his appetite or ability to use a litter box, as long as the entrance is not too high off the floor. He currently has trouble jumping onto or landing from a surface higher than a foot. He struggles to go down stairs and will need to be supervised often if in a home with stairs. Still, Morty is such a happy kitten. He will run about with glee when he smells food or sees a person or cat he wants to play with. Morty is a deeply charming cat ready to steal your heart! He is happiest when he is with his brother, James. They have been inseparable since they were rescued. James and Morty love napping together and grooming each other, and can keep each other company in a household. It is not required that they be adopted together but highly recommended. Morty’s charming character paired with James’ curiosity and cuddles make them the perfect kitten duo.
