Lainey
Lainey was originally humanely trapped, fixed, and returned to the outdoors due her seemingly more feral nature at the time (hence her cool tipped ear, an indicator of TNR “trap-neuter-release”). However, after one of her littermates went missing, she was rescued from the streets of East LA and brought into foster care with her littermate, Cosmo, at the beginning of September 2022.
Lainey has come a long way socially with humans, with a bit more work to go. She will need a patient, loving family experienced with cats and would love to be adopted along with her more socialized sibling, Cosmo.
Lainey is a beautiful, fluffy, long-hair torbie. She plays well on her own, with Cosmo and other cats (as long as she’s not approached too aggressively or she might hiss at them), as well as with humans and fun toys. She doesn’t intentionally bite, scratch, or hiss, but she might squirm or kick away if you try to casually pick her up or hold her (we’re still working on it!)
Lainey is very food motivated, which helps when needing to get her into a desired room, check on her physically, and administer medication (if needed). She enjoys being pet right before being served her meals and often leads the way to her placemat with an upright tail and excited meows. She also enjoys scratches and pets typically when she’s relaxed and sleepy, showing her love with squinty eyes and sweet purrs. Lainey needs to be approached calmly by someone sensitive to her mood and the surrounding environment. She often will spend her time at a distance from humans, but not necessarily avoiding them either. Her less social nature makes any interactions with her incredibly rewarding.
Lainey will likely have a longer adjustment period in a new home until routine and trust are established. She would love to be adopted into a family experienced with cats, along with her more cuddly littermate, Cosmo.
