Bliss and Bunny

Bliss and Bunny are very special girls! They were rescued from the city shelter (along with their brother) where they were about to be euthanized as the shelter did not recognize that they had a neurological condition, called Cerebellar Hypoplasia. We have a lot of experience with caring for cats with this condition so we immediately knew we had to rescue them. Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) is a neurological condition where the brain does not develop properly and it causes cats to be wobbly when they walk and sometimes lose balance. In the girls case they have an extremely mild form of it, so they are able to do everything that other cats can do – they just have a very cute wobble when they walk and run. Occasionally they will stumble, but they can climb and also are able to use the litter box without any problem. Bliss is the more social of the sisters and likes human company, and they both love all of the other free roaming cats at the nursery. They certainly don’t let their condition slow them down and most of the time you would never even know that they are any different from the other cats. We think they are purrfect just the way they are.

You may also be able to catch glimpses of the girls if you tune in to our nursery livestream https://explore.org/livecams/kitten-rescue/kitten-rescue-baby-kittens.
