Albie

Albie is a handsome, sturdy fellow with tons of character.  He’s a bit raggedy and his ears are torn from having been abandoned on the streets and being forced to fend for himself.  It must’ve been during some tussle with another cat that he contracted FIV.  But FIV is no death sentence.  In fact, with his being an indoor cat now and for the rest of his life, and with good food and a calm, loving environment, Albie will probably live out his life just like any other cat.

FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans. Albie is as playful as a kitten, now that he’s happy and safe.  He’ll chase around toy mice, batting them and hiding them and playing make-believe.  It’s super cute, because he’s a big guy and very muscular, so it’s extra endearing seeing him play like a youngster.  He’s also an extremely loving and affectionate cat, and he adores his humans.  He loves nothing better than to cuddle with you, sleep next to you in bed, hang out with you while you’re watching T.V., and just be near you in general.  He’ll curl up in your lap, purring and kneading his paws, and stay there as long as you’ll let him.  He’ll even let you trim his claws without a peep — anything to be with his human.  And he’s super gentle.  When he play bites (like in the video), you hardly feel it, because he knows not to bite hard.  He’s such a good boy!

Albie will get overlooked by many people because of his FIV, but it’s truly a shame.  He’s such a beautiful soul, and he’ll make someone the perfect cat companion.  He’s so engaged and fun.  And he has a HUGE appetite and loves his wet food, which is better for cats’ health anyway.  So this boy is going to live a long, healthy life, and no one needs to worry about the FIV. Will you be the kind human to give Albie his forever home?  You won’t regret it!
