On Saturday, November 7, Kitten Rescue will be hosting a
Special Black Cat Adoption Event featuring a large selection of
black (and some black and white) cats and kittens. We will have dozens of wonderful and adoptable kitties and we hope you will come and consider opening your home to one or more of them! As a matter of precaution, Kitten Rescue takes black cats off the adoption circuit in the weeks leading up to Halloween, so this will be the first time that they will be shown since early October!
Rescue is color blind; our volunteers save cats and kittens in need regardless of what they look like. Unfortunately, black cats are more likely than other cats to be passed over by adopters - perhaps because they are common, or perceived to be uninteresting looking, or even because of people's conscious or subconscious negative associations people have with them (we all have heard the superstition about black cats signifying bad luck). At city shelters, black cats are the ones most likely to be euthanized. We think this is unfair and the kitties agree!
Whether you are looking to adopt or just want to stop by and show your support for black kitties, come on by! We hope to see you there.
